Bedding Plants

Bedding plants offer many choices of colorful flowering plants and complete any landscape. They add beauty and value to your home when done the right way. They offer a rewarding feeling that is pleasurable for every one of all ages. It is fun and relaxing to work in your garden, getting outside and closer to nature.

Annuals and Perennials

Bedding plants are considered as annual plants or a perennial plant. There is a difference between the two, so you can make a choice for yourself. Annual plants are most widely use because of the many varieties available during the seasons of the year. There are many choices and types of annual flowers that grow in the different seasons with lots of color.

Annual plants are grown from seed producing flowers and eventually die at the end of each growing season. They need to be replaced with new ones at the end of their growing cycle.

Perennial plants bloom once during a season and last up to one or two months, depending upon the type. They will live for three years or more. When they become extra tall they can be divided to create separate plants.

Herbs and Vegetables

Herbs are plants, which are grown for the special flavor and aroma of their various parts. They are used mainly to season, enrich, or other wise improve the taste or smell of certain foods. Since they are not primary dishes, they are not classified as vegetables. However, due to similarity of their growth habits and cultural requirements, herbs are often included with vegetables for discussion and in the garden.

Many herbs may be grown in the home garden throughout the year. Since only a small portion of the plant is usually needed at any one time and because the plants are generally small, herbs are adapted to container culture. Their attractiveness as an ornamental plant makes them fit well into the home landscape, either in a border planting, or included in the flower garden. Specially designed formal herb gardens are both practical and attractive. To popular belief, herbs are sometimes planted among vegetables to repel certain insects and other pests.

Warm-season vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, corn, and okra, developed in tropical climates. They grow edible fruits instead of edible roots, stems, leaves, or buds, as cool-season crops do.

Cool-season vegetables grow best when temperature is warmer. In most areas, they can be planted two to four weeks before the last spring frost. These crops often are those that develop edible roots, stems, leaves, or buds, such as potatoes, broccoli, and spinach.

Hanging Baskets

Hanging baskets are easy to plant and maintain and many plants, both annuals and perennials, will thrive in this lofty space. Baskets can be planted densely and will look lush and mature right from the start. And the real benefit of hanging baskets is that you can position color and focus exactly where you want it. There are 3 different types of hanging basket to choose from:

  1. Rattan baskets: These look great and have a plastic liner which is great for water retention.
  1. Plastic baskets: Great for insulation, helping to protect your plants from strong winds and sunshine.
  1. Wire-mesh baskets: A traditional design that allows for planting in both the top and sides of the basket.

Interior Plants

An interior houseplant makes an ideal gift. We can supply small to large pot plants for most environments; from kitchens, sitting rooms and bathrooms, through to beautiful large houseplants for sunny conservatory environments. Houseplants are environmentally friendly and good for creating a calm atmosphere.

Interior Foliage Plants are a beautiful addition to decorate any interior space, and they are so much more.

Blooming plants can add a world of color to any environment. Livening up an area to give it a more prestigious look and making a friendlier environment in which to live.

Shrubs with brilliantly colored berries are a real asset to the winter garden. They’ll shine from the border when there’s little else around, and their generous loads of fruit bring in birds from miles around. Any color in the depths of winter is doubly valuable. But with scented flowers and jewel-like berries to enjoy too, you’ll want to spend as much time outside during the colder months of the year as you do in summer.

Evergreen and reliable, conifers are elegant trees with sculptural foliage, beautiful cones and sometimes autumn color, too. Several are compact enough to fit into a smaller garden.

A good ground cover plant is to provide a rapid, dense cover, to suppress germination and development of weed seeds and to eliminate the need for weed control measures. Such plants are usually evergreens or have densely twiggy growth.

Using mulch in your garden is a great way to save time and energy. Mulch helps the soil hold moisture so you water less often, helping conserve water. It also suppresses weeds as it enhances the appearance of our yards and gardens. Mulches are environmentally friendly as they continue to enrich our soils over time.
